About The Meadows Edit

The Meadows Edit is an independent editorial platform exploring contemporary art, culture, film and literature — and the connections between them.

Founded by writer and editor Claire Meadows, The Meadows Edit brings together criticism, interviews, essays, commentary and original editorial projects with a particular interest in the stories, ideas and people shaping culture now.

The focus is contemporary, but the perspective is not confined to the present. Art and culture rarely exist in isolation, and The Meadows Edit is interested in the conversations that run across time: between contemporary practice and art history, new ideas and older traditions, artists and audiences, film and literature, popular culture and the institutions that shape it.

Alongside writing about exhibitions, artists and cultural developments, The Meadows Edit will look at the wider questions surrounding culture today — who gets seen, whose stories are told, how cultural value is created, and how our understanding of art and creativity continues to change.

The project grows from Claire’s long experience as a writer and editor working across art, culture, publishing and film. She previously founded and edited the independent arts publication After Nyne, and has written extensively about film history, adaptation and the relationship between literature and cinema.

The Meadows Edit is independent, curious and deliberately open-ended.

Art. Culture. Ideas. In conversation.
